2016 en primeur

In 2016 we had a relatively damp, cool climate until the end of June, when the weather became dry and sunny. Deep roots and cool clay subsoil meant that our vineyards withstood the dry period very well, with the exception of a few young plants which suffered a bit.

The long-awaited rain arrived on 14th and 15th September with 28 millimetres, reviving the final phase of ripening. A beautiful Indian summer allowed us to take our time and harvest every single plot at exactly the right level of ripeness.

We began harvesting some of the Merlot vines on 23rd September, followed by the old Merlot plots on 28th and 29th September, as well as on 5th and 6th October. Finally, the Cabernet Franc and Cabernet-Sauvignon were harvested on 11th and 12th October.

77 % merlot, 14 % cabernet franc, 9 % cabernet-sauvignon
Ageing
60 % in new barrels and 40 % from barrels of one vintage, for 15 months.
Harvest conditions
